Summer Bucket List: Swim Lessons

With all the pool time we have during the summer, I really wanted to get all three kids into some basic swim lessons.  So E had lessons at the beginning of the summer, L took them as part of a summer camp at the YMCA, and O just completed parent-child swim lessons this past weekend.

E's swim class really helped her to be a little more confident in the water.  By the end of the class, she was volunteering to go under the water and jump into the pool.

Going Under:
 Swimming with a pool noodle:

 Jumping In:

She still needs her Puddle Jumper Life Jacket when we are at Pop's house, but at least she's not afraid to get her hair wet anymore!

Floating on her back:

Playing in the pool:

O did really great at his parent-child swim lessons too.  He learned to float on his back with only my hand supporting his head, kick his legs with his head out of the water, support himself on a poole noodle and kick his legs (without assistance), go under the water (although he hated it), climb out of the pool, and jump into the pool.  This boy basically has no fear of the water.

Swimming on the pool noodle:

He's still learning how to swim with the Puddle Jumper Life Jacket, but I am going to go ahead and guess that he'll be swimming on his own by the time he's E's age.

Being so brave:

Unfortunately, I was unable to attend L's swim lessons so I'll just add some pictures of him from this summer in the pool.  He was already swimming pretty good on his own, but his strokes are getting much better and he's getting stronger.

He can swim all the way across Pop's pool:

He loves to jump off the diving board:

 "Stealing E":

So, they may not be proficient swimmers yet, but they all made good progress over the summer!
